Customer, an older lady: “Do you have any baby b…”
Me, interrupting: “Baby back ribs?”
Customer: “No, baby beef liver.”
Me: “Oh, calf liver. We have that right here.”
Customer: “No, I want baby beef liver.”
Me: “That’s the same thing as calf liver. A calf is a baby cow.”
[Stunned silence. Customer turns to a nearby woman for help.]
Nearby woman: “They’re the same thing.”
Customer: “OK.”

[Epilogue: I later learned that calf liver and baby beef liver are not the same.]
